iTunes 9.1 now available
The latest version of this amazing software is now available right here. But on the side of caution, I’m gonna wait a few days weeks months before going for it. I remember the last time I downloaded a new version of iTunes the day it came out- seems like September of 2006 or 2007. Don’t quite remember, but I did learn my lesson.

Steal this iCon!

Steal this iCon
The Big Money reports that a good many online frauds being committed today involve Apple products and services. OMG,OMG,OMG, whatever the fuck do you mean? Well, apart from the drool factor makes the hardware irrestible to thieves who buy the stuff in America with stolen credit cards then hawk it for mucho profit in places like Brazil, they also employ services like iTunes to check if a stolen credit card is dead as a mackeral or alive and kicking. Fascinating stuff. Check it out.

Dinosaur rock band wins some type of court case
The ancient British band Pink Floyd, which A) is no longer active, B) hasn’t had a hit since the first Reagan administration, and C) hate each other to death, the ones still living, that is- they’ve won a court battle with EMI* that says their songs can’t be sold as digital singles without their permish. They preferred the artsy way- “experience this aural extravaganza as an entire conceptual piece.” OK, so they didn’t say that. But that’s what they meant. (Back in the day, we referred to EMI* as “Every Mistake Imaginable.” Just like MCA was “Musician’s Cemetery of America.”)

“Lou, this is Steve Jobs”
And so began the historic conversation. There’s a 71-year-old good ol’ boy down Woodstock, Georgia way y’all..goes by the handle of Louie Sulcer. Country music fan, seven stents in his heart and artificial hip sockets in his legs. He got a personal call from Dear Leader, and he’s also got a 10K iTunes card, for being the lucky soul who downloaded the 10 billionth song on iTunes. It was a 1958 Johnny Cash song, “Guess Things Happen That Way.” He got a Nano for his birthday last October, a gift from the kids. He’s got about 100 songs in there, and “doesn’t even know what they all have” in that there iTunes vault. Well, he’s gonna find out. And dang it, can someone puh-leaze get this man more storage capacity?

And we’ve got a winner!
The 10 billionth iTunes download has landed in someone’s iPod. The winning name hasn’t been announced, but he/she will get a gift card worth 10K. Boy, and I thought buying INXS’s “Elegantly Wasted” last night would do the trick. My balance is down to $2.41. Here’s a list of the most downloaded tunes. (Links open iTunes.)
