Jim Lynch on the death of an iMac

This is not a story for the faint of heart. Poor Jim. It’s so obvious this is user error because we all know iMacs simply don’t fail. (Except mine, November 16th, 2007.)

iMac en fuego

Poor Swede Anders Norman lost his entire home recently in a fire.  But when he booted up his somewhat toasty iMac, boom!  Started flawlessly. Money quote: “On Friday I bought a new iMac at the Apple Store here in Umeå, which I now rejoice.” They just work, people..they just work.

Got a cracked iMac?

Gizmodo reports Apple is paying out 15% of the purchase cost, or about $300 USD, to 27″ iMac users who are having cracked screen problems. Naturally, Mosspuppet has a problem with this. Apple internally acknowledges more 27″ iMac screen issues

Ars Technica reports that Apple is internally acknowledging that the 27″ iMac still has…issues. Flickering video and cracked glass have been reported by users, and Apple has never publicly commented on those problems. As the piece says, “Obviously it’s not something you want to see when you’ve just spent $1,700 or more on a new computer.”  That would be a true statement.

The MacMan?

Gizmodo says that is the name El Jobso wanted to give the original iMac.  The MacMan.  Seriously.  Like a Big Mac, but lose the “Big” and add “Man.” All I can say is, must have been a bad trip at the time.  I mean, look at the suit.
