Yes, but will it detail my car?
“Intel engineer” and blonde moment, all in one post
Our favorite Apple-obsessed blogger (OK, after FSJ) shows off her CES “credentials.” Intel engineer? Who knew? And below, she was ready to tear into a cyber-squatter until she realized who had the name after all.
Best and worst of CES
Gizmodo runs down the week that was. Wanna see the worst piece of junk ever? They actually had this at CES. Just click below! Talk about a childlike sense of wonder.

CES: Ruby says “We don’t pay that much attention to Apple”
John Paczkowski tells us about All Things D’s Kara Swisher and her chat with Palm CEO Jon Rubenstein at CES. Palm’s CEO flatly states he has never used the world’s most popular smartphone, IE his competition. Don’t really buy that, and Kara didn’t either. Note the dubious look on her face. Really good excerpt here:
“We don’t pay that much attention to Apple….I know it sounds really strange,” says Rubinstein.
“Really?” Kara replies. “You don’t worry about the iPhone?”
“No, I really don’t,” Rubinstein answers.
“I don’t believe you,” says Kara, telegraphing a sentiment I imagine is widely held among the audience.
Rubinstein: “I don’t have an iPhone. I’ve never even used one.”
CES: Is this the future?
If it is, I’ll get off the trolley now, thanks. Got an email from the BBC detailing what’s happening at CES, since <ahem> I don’t happen to be there. Something about lack of funds in the FSJ Travel Budget, mwah mwah mwah. But I digress. The Beebster is going on and on about 3D. “The buzz this year was around not just the concept of 3D, but actual products and content.” Sure it is. Look at this guy below. Does he look like he’s digging it? Are those dumb goggles giving him a childlike sense of wonder? Or is it just another Vegas-y scam designed to fleece him. Yeah. It’s like that.

Put this right by the bearskin rug
Not sure why anyone would want a stuffed polar bear with a TV in it, but this is at CES which means there must be a market for it somewhere. Here are some more random ramblings from the show.
CES: Is anyone out there not making a tablet?
If so, please sign in to be formally recognized by the chair. Gee whiz, now we find out that Uncle Fester is gonna do a CES rap tonight, and tell us that Microsoft and HP are going to double-date and create a tablet. Here’s some spy photo or something of the alleged vaporware, from September. September! Did we know about this? Was there an email? Did Mosspuppet rant about this? There was a story about Google and HTC working on a their tablet. Got that. But this? Sorry, first we’ve heard of it. So it cannot exist. Here’s the key quote from the NY Times:
It remains tough to tell where Microsoft’s work ends and H.P.’s begins on this type of product. But all eyes will be on Mr. Ballmer this week to see if Microsoft and H.P. can out-Apple Apple before Apple Apples.
Huh? What’s that last sentence again? Update: Here’s some new info from Kara in Vegas.
