Silicon Alley Insider says that Bing was almost named Bang. Bing was probably a better choice. As the story mentions: “Most people don’t want to say they ‘banged Obama’s dog‘ when they look for Bo Obama on the Internet.”(Disclaimer: that link is the first time I’ve ever used Bing. As a confirmed Googler, I feel….unclean. Must cleanse keyboard.)

Could Apple iPhone dump Google for Bing?
Well, well. That’s what you might refer to as “waiting for the other shoe to drop.” The relationship between the two giants isn’t on the best of terms these days, as Dear Leader reminded us a couple of weeks ago. So this article suggests that Google might get the boot as default search app in the iPhone, in favor of The Bingster.

Don’t Be Evil Alert: Bing + Verizon

Google buying ads on Bing
Was there a meeting about this strategy? Did anybody vote on this? Or did somebody go rogue?
Marissa, answer the question!
Money quote: It is almost a better ad for Bing because Google is acknowledging that buying ads on Bing is a good idea.
P.S. Google is NOT sweating Apple, Inc.’s purchase of LaLa, i.e. Eric Schmidt can barely lift his briefcase let alone toss office furniture out a twelve story window, so no Ballmer-like hissy fits, there, more like … bemused concern.

Paul Boutin hearts Bing
Tech writer Paul Boutin makes his case here, about the several ways Bing is superior to Google. I don’t quite agree with him, and I’m also sure he won’t lose too much sleep over that. I find Bing slow and cumbersome, and I want speed and performance. I also don’t see anyone knocking Google off the search pedestal. Their name has become synonymous with the act itself- don’t hold your breath waiting to hear someone say, “Oh, I just Binged it.” You think that’s trivial? Think again. That advantage is monumental. I think the only company that can beat Google…is Google. Get too full of yourself, lose the edge, do some dumb things..it can happen. (Look at the Roman Empire.)

Attention News Corp. employees: get in the lifeboats while you can!
Google is going to give Murdoch the finger and leave Bing holding the MySpace bag. Well played.

The Borg’s freaky new ad for Bing
Sweet God almighty. What is wrong with these people? Do they have no idea at all about how to make an advertisement?
