Does it seem like Google is everywhere?

They are, you know.  Ubiquitous. (Existing or being everywhere at the same time : constantly encountered.) Search, mail, every base is covered. Maybe more than you even realize.

Google to test superfreakinfast broadband

Now, how does 1 gig per second sound? Sounds like Ferrari-fast to me, and it’s going to happen.  Big G is planning to get into the broadband biz by rolling out fiber-optic broadband Internet access to a small number of test markets. It’ll be “competitively priced,” according to this helpful video. Hello, AT&T? I’d like to cancel my DSL account please.

Socially speaking, Big G’s up to something

Google is going to roll out some type of new social media deal on Tuesday, that will integrate with “at least two existing Google products,” says TechCrunch. Google hasn’t become a monster in this field (can you say Orkut) as they have in others, so who knows? WSJ.com says Google is “taking a swipe at Facebook.” That’s all I could find there ’cause otherwise I’d have to <ahem> pay for a subscription, and that’s simply not going to happen. Why? One search, and I get a ton of hits.  Looks like Gmail is the key to this one. The big reveal happens at 10am PT on Tuesday. Update: More quality info here.  The author mentions the first thing I thought of when I saw the story- Google should just buy Twitter. What’s a couple of billion? Game over.

Marissa’s fingerprints are all over this

Of course, you can go to the Google online store and buy all sorts of Googley items. T-shirts, bean bag chairs, and neon lights. So now the store has gone high-end, and a certain tech fashionista is surely behind it. How does a $200 dollar Magnifying Glass Pendant from “Waris” of the House of Waris sound? No? Tough customer.  OK, then how does an Oversize Knit Scarf In Google Colors by Ohne Titel sound? No? Too pricey? Well, then just click over a couple of sections, ’cause here’s a great pair of socks for for under five bucks.

Why doesn’t Apple have an online store?

Is Google investing in electric cars?

Interesting story in Valleywag. Tesla, the electric car maker, registered with the SEC Friday. In the paperwork, a shareholder named “Amphitheatre LLC” is mentioned. And who do we know on Amphitheatre Parkway? PS- Geeksugar says that’s Sergey in his new Tesla, crusing thru San Francisco’s Marina District. Hmmm, no rear plate, either.

Now there’s a headline sure to get people’s attention.  Remember the story about Bing getting stuck onto the iPhone as default search? That’s not by accident.  Read on.
