Poop bubbles threaten Indiana

Such a great headline. Poor Indiana.

Earth Hour tonight at 8:30

Turn off all the lights as a show of support for tougher action to confront climate change. On other fronts, Scoble thinks that it would be noble if Google shut down their data centers as a show of support. And Arrington says Bing going to a darker format is like, er, killing baby seals. PS- Did patients on life support die when a San Francisco hospital shut off all its power in observance of Earth Hour?

Developing: Best Buy and iPad launch

Credit TUAW for these shots.  They say the store managers don’t even have these “playbooks” yet.  A mystery Tweeter named iSecretApples is out there with the scoop. Update: 9To5Mac says Apple has run out of the first week’s worth of iPads.

Connection between FSJ and…Mosspuppet?

Developing: TechCrunch Lord and Master Michael Arrington posits an interesting theory. He is pondering a possible connection between Mosspuppet and some fellow named “Dan Lyons,” who apparently writes for Newsweek.  Or something. Arrington says this Lyons fellow writes the Mosspuppet words, then puppeteer Brian Hogg does the performance. Lyons, contacted by Arrington, denies the charge. Saturday update: Brief comments by MP are here. More on this alleged story as it develops.  If it does. I’ll let you know. Maybe.

Report: Best Buy to carry iPad on launch day

Check out the impressively named Apple iPad Launch Playbook. (Shouldn’t that be, um, iLaunch?) It says next Saturday, the only place to get the iPad is Apple.com, Apple Stores, and Best Buy.

Get your daily Google Fiber- these 600+ have!

Barron’s reports that quite a few cities have sent in their application to get that Lamborghini-fast Google broadband. Memo to Eric: make sure to take care of your own backyard first.

Google Earth for Android 2.1

I’m just going to copy and paste from my e-mail like a good widdle SJV-N clone, okay, I’m a little tired today and was called into work ‘cos my under-toady croaked, so wheee! Overtime.

Anyway:

Earth for Android Now Available
The same 3D imagery and terrain available in the desktop version of Google Earth is now available for Android 2.1. This fastest version of Earth for mobile also includes the “Roads” layer and integrates Google Search by voice with Google Local Search to make it easier than ever to explore the world from the palm of your hand. Download it today by searching for Google Earth in the Android Market

I like Google Earth a lot but gosh you better have a lotta’ processor power or this app will slooooowww things down. Which is why it’s nice to have a phone that runs on Android 2.1 and having 3G (or 4G) service wouldn’t hurt either.

iPad App Store screenshots!

I’ll tell you, between the Jobs/Schmidt coffee conference and this, Gizmodo’s staff is earning their keep today.  Check out these new iPad App Store screenshots.  One week to go.

Valley détente: Jobso hangs with Squirrel Boy

Gizmodo reports the Apple CEO met Google’s CEO today at Calafia (run by former Google chef Charlie Ayers) in the Town and Country shopping center in Palo Alto. Update: Body language analysis here.
