“We haven’t seen it; we never do”

That’s the money quote from a Reuters article on MSNBC, regarding the launch of The Device this Saturday morning. The quote refers to those hard-working members of the Apple retail stores.  Apparently, they never see a new launch item until just before it goes on sale. Like, minutes before.

“We did not see or hold an iPhone until an hour before it went on sale,” said a former Apple store employee.

“There was really no word on anything,” said another former store worker of the iPhone launch. “We saw a video of the keynote, and that was basically all you knew.”

Moshe and his ex-Mossad security team will be deployed across the USA on Saturday morning. Not that you’ll see elite troops in black Kevlar body armor with sniper rifles or anything. However, order must be maintained at all times.  So they’ll do what they gotta do. Strictly business.

If it sells like a turkey, it must be a turkey

Ninety.

That would be the total number of JooJoo tablet pre-orders.  Ninety.  And of that number, 15 got cancelled.  Guess it wasn’t a sharp idea to launch your tablet the same time as that other company, eh? Fusion Garage CEO Chandrawhatahardnametosaysekar Rathakrishnan must be suicical disappointed. Meanwhile, in the TechCrunch bunker in Palo Alto, a different kind of reaction is likely occurring, and somewhat bittersweet at that.

Runners, watchers, and squatters

Great blog post today on that very subject by Scott Adams.  It seems there are three types of computer users who ask for assistance.  Runners, watchers, and squatters.

Chinese hacktards target Yahoo Mail accounts

Yahoo accounts belonging to foreign journalists have reportedly been hacked, according to this story on Huffington Post. Related: Google access in China disrupted.

Trying to figure out this Lohan thing

FSJ is clearly borderline-obsessing on Lindsay Lohan.  Why, I don’t know.  She clearly has issues.  Even in Hollywood.  Heavens, look for someone like Heidi Klum. Have you heard of her? Then it hit me.  I understand the attraction.  She got one of the very first iPhones.  He wouldn’t be this nuts over her if she was clutching a BlackBerry.

Twitter introduces “Top tweets”

They’re now going to feature “Top tweets” on their home page.  Ashton Kutcher is probably going bananas at the very thought. CNN has the info here, and the company boilerplate press release is over here.

Will Apple build its own search engine?

This article seems to suggest so.  Remember, Google decided to make their own phone.

Close Encounters of the Jobso kind

Interesting story from that pillar of journalistic credibility, Valleywag. They detail the many recent Jobso sightings, and include a close encounter with Dear Leader at a movie theater.

About a week before the iPad was officially unveiled, I was in Cupertino walking to my car in an AMC parking lot and I hear someone behind me ask, “Excuse me, which direction is the movie theater?”

I turn around and am face to face with Steve Jobs and his wife.

Although I was completely stunned that 1) I was talking to Steve Jobs in a parking lot and 2) it was just him and his wife going to a movie (I figured that with his money he would have his own private theater or something), I gave him directions and he was on his way.

What was particularly funny about the incident was that in addition to me working very closely with Palm at the time, I was very vocally telling my girlfriend how awesome the Palm Pre is over the iPhone when he approached me.

iTunes 9.1 now available

The latest version of this amazing software is now available right here. But on the side of caution, I’m gonna wait a few days weeks months before going for it.  I remember the last time I downloaded a new version of iTunes the day it came out- seems like September of 2006 or 2007. Don’t quite remember, but I did learn my lesson.

Arrington needs a goat

More as this develops.  Not ruling anything out at this point.
