That’s the $64,000 dollar question, as we fogeys used to say, although now it’s more like $640 million.
Tivo’s patent lawsuit finally paid off (which must be giving Richard M. Stallman fits) and introduced a big chunk of cash into its coffers and a lot johnny come lately stockholders. The question is, can Tivo get the cable companies to fork over back licensing fees or stop pushing their own piece o’ crap DVRs and just sell Tivo’s new Premiere service with their cable packages? And keep Tivo finally get in to the black? As my old friend Herb would say, “lotsa’ questions, lotsa questions”, meaning we won’t know until we know.
